New Hotness
I just applied for a new job. Kinda one of those "lateral" moves- better job, same pay (I think). I am a prospective Web Developer, Level II. Apparently I would be managing projects, keeping a watchful eye on standardization, and security- while delivering quality, tested products to clients on time.
One step closer to my dream job. What is my dream job? Well thanks for asking- it's going to be the focus of this blog.
I started off thinking Project Management is the way, the truth and the life- (it isn't, Jesus is) then I found HALO. Bungie studios developed this game that has sucked countless hours out of me (and 5 million gamers all over the US) and made me look closer at the "electronic entertainment" industry. I got a part time job in a LAN gaming center, joined various gaming communities, and now I think I know what my goal in life is (work wise, of course).
[random game developer] community director - managing community liaison's (magazines, press, etc.), creating web content, facilitating contests, events, and information to the community.
Why? I dunno, I think I'm good at it. I just ran a 16 team HALO tournament that was a regional qualifier to a $15,000 final event in New York. I did things by hand, and it went pretty much flawlessly. Our regional qualifier was the largest in the country. We had 64 people signed in, played a free-for all seeding tournament, seeded teams for a pool play, had 4 pools of teams play each other, re-seed, and have the final 8 teams play a single elimination tourney in LESS THAN 5 hours!!!!
I'm good at stuff like that, and I love doing it. So I need someone to pay me full time to do it. Please email me at jesusfreaks18 at hotmail dot com if you are a game dev needing someone like me.
